DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Florida: A large fire on the border of Columbia and Baker counties continues to generate a large area of moderate to extremely dense smoke that extended west towards eastern portions of the Florida Panhandle and into southern Georgia. Gulf of Mexico: A large area of remnant smoke was evident over the western Gulf of Mexico and was likely associated from previous days fires over Central America and Mexico. Further to the east a large area of smoke was analyzed over the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico. The smoke also extended along the coastal Florida Panhandle, Alabama, Mississippi and into southeastern Louisiana. This area of smoke is associated with the large fire over northern Florida. Central US: An area of what was believed to be blowing dust was evident this evening over the northern Plains. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
