DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Pacific Coast: Asian dust, which was transported across the Pacific Ocean, was viewed on satellite imagery this evening. The leading edge of this aerosol passed through Las Vegas, NV and San Diego, CA by 06/0045Z. Higher density ribbons of dust were also viewed in central and northern California. California: An aerosol, which is believed to be blowing dust at the surface, originated in the San Bernardino National Forest around 06/0100Z. The dust began near the Riverside County and San Bernardino County border and moved to the south but remained east of the Los Angeles metro area. Florida: The County Line fire in northern Florida produced a large area of eastward moving smoke this evening. The smoke reached Jacksonville, FL by sunset. Myrga THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
