Northern US: Remnant smoke from numerous wildfires burning in the northwest US (northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming) has pushed eastward across the Northern Plains, Great Lakes, and Northeast. The leading edge of the smoke has moved off the coast into the Atlantic Ocean. Within this massive area, patches of moderate density smoke were seen over Wyoming, the western Dakotas, and Minnesota. A very dense patch of remnant smoke was visible over Wisconsin. These fires, especially the Halstead fire burning in central Idaho, continued to produce massive amounts of smoke throughout the afternoon and evening.
