DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Blowing Dust Northern Mexico: Narrow plumes of blowing dust were observed in satellite imagery this morning originating from sources in northern Chihuahua south of New Mexico and drifting to the east northeast toward the Rio Grande. California/Mexico border: Two small areas of light blowing dust were detected in southern California. One was along the California/Mexico border, to the southeast of the Salton Sea. The other was west of the Salton Sea in west central Imperial county. Both of the plumes were drifting to the south. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
