Western Gulf of Mexico: An expansive area of remnant and new smoke could be seen from the Gulf of Campeche northeastward to the central Gulf of Mexico today before cloud cover over the northern Gulf obscured the view. Some of this smoke was moderately dense in thickness. This smoke is believed to be from many fires burning in Mexico and Central America. Eastern Gulf of Mexico/Florida Keys: An area of thin smoke was being emitted from fires in Western Cuba today. The smoke drifted northwest before turning eastward and moving towards southern Florida on the north side of the Keys. Mid-Atlantic Coast: An area of unknown aerosol was seen just off the Mid-Atlantic coast this evening. The aerosol was moving northwest to southeast.
