DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Western Gulf of Mexico/Eastern Pacific/Central America: A large and elongated area of light to moderately dense smoke can be seen extending from the eastern Pacific through Central America and into the western Gulf of Mexico. This continues to be from the numerous agricultural fires that have been burning through Mexico and Central America. Dust North Central US/Great Lakes: An area of light dust is observed today extending from Iowa northeastward in to the Great Lakes region. Much of this dust is thought to have been transported across the Pacific from Asia. Belge THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
