DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Gulf of Mexico: The large area of smoke over the Gulf of Mexico from agricultural burns in Mexico and Central America persists. Central US/Canada: A large area of smoke and perhaps blowing dust/sand is located over the central US. This area may contain remnant smoke from the large wildfires in CA and Asian dust. The area extends from southern Saskatchewan/Manitoba, through eastern Montana and the Dakotas south and east into Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa and Missouri. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
