DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Canada/Northern US: A very large area of light to moderate density smoke is visible extending from Northwest Canada, through central Canada from Alberta Province and the Hudson Bay area into the northern Plains and the Great Lakes/Midwest. An area of dense smoke persisted this morning over Manitoba and Ontario provinces and extends over the Great Lakes region. All of this smoke is remnant from fires in north central Canada as well as Alaska and Northwest Canada. Some smoke from numerous wildfires in the Pacific Northwest US is likely mixing in as well. Pacific Northwest/Rockies/S Central Plains: Light to moderate smoke extends from Northern California/Ontario through Montana and then splits going north into Canada and South through Idaho/Wyoming and stretching into Utah and Colorado as well as northern New Mexico and ending over Arkansas. An are of moderate smoke was seen over Oklahoma/Kansas and extended along the New Mexico/Colorado border before covering western Colorado and Wyoming as well as eastern Utah and eastern Idaho. Some areas of heavy smoke were seen near the central Utah/Colorado border as well as western Wyoming. This smoke is mainly remnant from numbers wildfires in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho and Utah which have been burning for several days. Some smoke for the Canadian fires mentioned above is likely to have mixed in as well. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
