DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central US: A large area of remnant smoke from the Rim fire and other fires in the Northwest is still located over the center of the country. This area extends from Texas northeast through Oklahoma/Kansas into Iowas and Minnesota. Once in Minnesota, the smoke turns back southeastward through the Ohio Valley into Georgia. Western US: The Rim fire in California continues to emit large amounts of moderately dense to dense smoke. This smoke is moving to the northeast through Nevada, Idaho and into Montana. Canada: There are a few fires in northern Saskatchewan that are producing light to moderately dense smoke which is moving to the south. -Salemi THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
