DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1445Z September 17. 2013
Thin to moderately dense smoke that has been consolidated under at the edge of the ridge has finally been exposed due to the erosion of the the higher cirrus as is moves S across S Quebec into ME, NH, VT and NE NY, CT, RI and into the Gulf of Maine. This smoke is likely from the fires burning earlier last week across BC, SW NW Territories and C Saskatchewan. Gallina THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
