DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

No areas of remnant detached smoke were observed in satellite imagery this afternoon/evening. DUST Central Plains: Many plumes of blowing dust were seen originating from southwest Nebraska, northwest Kansas, and northeast Colorado starting at 1915Z and continuing through sunset. Dust was moving south/southeast behind the cold front pushing eastward. Southwest US: An area of blowing hazw with possible dust mixed in was detected originating between Death Valley and the Mojave National Preserve extending to the west-southwest across the Channel and Santa Catalina Islands. This continued throughout the day. LP & Vogt THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
