DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z December 7, 2013
Florida/Gulf of Mexico: A small area of thin aerosol was present over and just off the coast of northeast Florida this morning. The aerosol may contain some residual smoke from agricultural fires that have been burning in Florida during the past few days. Other aerosol seen over the Straits of Florida and along the frontal boundary over the central to northeastern Gulf of Mexico was unknown in composition and origin. It is unlikely that these two areas of aerosol are smoke related. -Sheffler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.
