DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central Plains: An area of light density smoke remains extending from eastern Colorado across northwest Kansas into southeast Nebraska. Clouds continued to obscure the exact extent of the clouds today. This is remnant smoke from the Skunk fire in southeast Arizona. Southern Canada/Northern Plains: An area of light remnant smoke from several days of agricultural burning in southern Saskatchewan, southern Manitoba and North Dakota remains over the region with very little movement and a slight southward expansion throughout the day. Alaska: An expansive plume of moderate to heavy continued to grow throughout the day on the Kenai peninsula in southern Alaska. The plume extends into the Gulf of Alaska and is being wrapped up by a low pressure system to the southeast of the fire. Liddick THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
