SMOKE: Canada: A large area of light to moderate density smoke is seen extending northern Alberta, through Northwest Territories and the Great Slave Lake into northwestern Nunavut. This smoke is associated with the wildfires occurring throughout Northwest Territories. Two expansive areas of light density remnant smoke is seen; one area descending southward over eastern Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and most of Hudson Bay, and the other further south over northern and Central Alberta as well as central Saskatchewan and northwestern Manitoba. These areas of remnant smoke are from the same wildfires previously mentioned. Ohio Valley: A small area of light density remnant smoke is seen over southern Indiana, southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. This smoke most likely originated from the wildfires burning in Northwest Territories. Heeps From earlier: SMOKE: Eastern Canada/Great Lakes Region US: Residual smoke extends and moves SSE across portions of S Hudson Bay, James Bay, C/W Ontario and W Quebec. The smoke is beginning to stretch in to northern portions of Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Michigan and across all of Georgian Bay. Most likely, the smoke is from wildfires burning across Northwest Territories/Northern Alberta this week. Northwest Territories: A narrow area of residual smoke can be seen across W Northwest Territories and stretching between western sections of Great Bear and Great Slave Lake. Additional smoke is most likely to the east, but cannot be seen as a boundary/cloud cover extends from Northwest Territories SSE through Alberta/Saskatchewan.
