DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Canada/U.S: A large amount of light to heavy density smoke is visible over the majority of Canada and US. The heaviest smoke is visible moving eastward affecting NW Territories, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nunavut. Moderate smoke is visible moving south, then SE through Nunavut, Hudson Bay, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, the Great Lakes, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Brunswick, and Quebec. Areas of light smoke include NW Territories, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Hudson Bay, Ontario, the Great Lakes, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Missouri, and Arkansas. This smoke originates from the many wildfires that continue to burn in the NWTerritories near the Great Slave Lake. British Columbia: A few areas of light to moderate density smoke are visible moving eastward from BC into Alberta and Yukon. Western US: A large area of light to heavy density smoke is visible over a majority of the western US due to the wildfires burning in the Pacific NW, notably in northern California. The heaviest smoke is visible affecting California, Oregon, and Idaho. Light density smoke is visible affecting Oregon, Washington, BC, Alberta, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Saskatchewan. As the smoke continues to travel eastward, it converges with the smoke coming south from Canada in the northern Plains. A plume of light density smoke is also visible in New Mexico moving into Texas. Oegerle THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
