THROUGH 0230Z September 6, 2014
SMOKE: Idaho/Washington/Oregon: An area of light density smoke is visible over central Idaho, eastern Washington, and northeastern Oregon. This smoke originates from numerous agricultural burns occurring near the Idaho/Washington border, as well as through the Nez Perce Reservation. Western U.S: The Happy Camp Fire Complex continues to burn in northern California, producing heavy density smoke drifting over northwestern California and southwestern Oregon. Light to moderate density smoke associated with this fire complex can be seen inland over southern Oregon and northern California. British Columbia: Multiple small areas of light density smoke are moving southward through central British Columbia, all of which originate from wildfires occurring slightly to the north of this area. AEROSOLS: Ohio Valley/Lower Great Lakes: An expansive area of unknown aerosols is visible out ahead of the frontal boundary currently pushing across much of the central U.S. States affected include Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and western New York. DUST: Southern California: Blowing dust is visible moving northward from Baja California and northwestern Sonora into southern California, currently reaching just north of San Bernardino. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/land/hms.html GIS: http://www.firedetect.noaa.gov/viewer.htm KML: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/FIRE/kml.html ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
