DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western U.S: Numerous wildfire complexes continue to burn throughout western Montana, eastern Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and northern California. Most of these smoke plumes are light density smoke, although a few plumes visible in western Montana, southeastern Washington and central Idaho consist of moderate to heavy density smoke. DUST: Blowing dust is visible over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, extending inland over the Texas/Louisiana coastline and into eastern Texas. This dust is Saharan in origin. Heeps THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
