DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Gulf of Mexico: Several areas of thin to moderately dense remnant smoke were seen over the north central and northwestern Gulf of Mexico this morning. Numerous fire over the Southeast and South Central US are the cause of this remnant smoke. Oklahoma/Texas/Arkansas/Louisiana: An area of thin remnant smoke exists along the Oklahoma/Texas border stretching into northwest Louisiana, southwest and west central Arkansas, and central Oklahoma. Numerous ag fires in this region yesterday produced this leftover smoke. Sheffler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
