DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern US/Gulf of Mexico: Fires likely associated with agricultural burns could be seen in satellite imagery throughout the southern US. Smoke plumes associated with the burns were moving to the east-southeast. An area of remnant smoke, which originated from agricultural burns in the southern US yesterday and today, could be seen over the Gulf of Mexico from the mouth of the Mississippi River to the Florida panhandle. -Gallina/Cronin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
