SMOKE Central US/Southern Canada: Heavy dense smoke continue to cover the northern plains from Montana to western Wisconsin and from Kansas into southern Saskatchewan/Manitoba provinces in southern Canada. The smoke is remnant from the numerous large wildfires that continue to burn over the Northwest US. While fires are still burning in the Northwestern US, mostly over Idaho and western Montana and eastern Washington, extensive clouds are obscuring smoke detection over that area. Alaska: An unknown aerosol is moving south off the southern coast into the northern Pacific. A fire on Kodiak island is producing a small plume that is extending south of the island.
