DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2315Z October 6, 2015
Currently: Northern Plains/Southern Canada: Several fires burning across western Minnesota, North Dakota, southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba are producing mostly light smoke across the region. Idaho/western Montana: Wildfires burning across northern/central Idaho and western Montana are producing light to moderately dense smoke moving from source into western Montana. Southern Mississippi Valley: Numerous agricultural fires in eastern Arkansas and northwest Mississippi were producing areas of mostly light smoke across much of the region this evening. Earlier Today: SMOKE: Western Gulf: An area of thin smoke is present over the waters of the western Gulf of Mexico and the adjacent portions of the Mexican and Texas coastlines. This remnant smoke is from several fires that were burning yesterday along the Texas coast into southwestern Louisiana. The smoke continues to drift slowly to the south. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE..TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
