THROUGH 0100Z July 12, 2016
Currently: Wyoming/Colorado/Central Plains: Multiple wildfires burning across eastern Wyoming and Colorado are producing dense to very dense smoke moving east into Nebraska and Kansas. The heaviest smoke being produced is from the Hayden Pass wildfire burning in central Colorado and dense smoke reaching northwest Kansas. Arizona/New Mexico: Multiple wildfires burning over northern Arizona and southwest New Mexico are producing light to moderately dense smoke moving east and staying within the state. Canada: Light density smoke is visible through Northwest Territories, Nunavut and in central Hudson Bay moving eastward into Quebec. Heavy cloud coverage obscured the full extent of the smoke. DUST: Western Gulf of Mexico into the southern Plains: A broad area of Saharan dust continues to be seen this evening across the western half of the Gulf of Mexico, including the entire Bay of Campeche. The dust then extends northward across much of central Texas and into central Kansas.
