SMOKE: Bay of Campeche/Western Gulf of Mexico... A region of thin density aerosol was visible over portions of the Bay of Campeche extending northward over the western and northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Smoke within this region of aerosol was detected from oil rigs in the Bay of Campeche and from seasonal fires burning over portions of eastern and southeastern Mexico though it is not known how much of the aerosol farther to the north over the western and northwestern Gulf of Mexico is composed of smoke. Southern Florida... A few fires and associated smoke plumes were analyzed over the southern half of Florida with the smoke moving mainly to the east. Farther to the south, some thin density smoke from fires burning in Cuba was spreading to the north and nearing the Florida Keys and extreme southern Florida just prior to sunset. South Central US... Scattered fires and a few visible smoke plumes were detected especially over eastern Oklahoma, western Arkansas, as well as southeastern and southern Texas.
