THROUGH 0200Z March 19 2017
SMOKE: CENTRAL PLAINS/MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY.... Numerous fires in the Central Plains and Middle Mississippi Valley are producing light density smoke plumes in the area. The majority of plumes are short lived and dissipate rapidly; however, satellite imagery suggests there are several fires in Eastern Nebraska and Southern Missouri that persist for three or more hours producing medium density smoke that is traveling towards the North and Southeast, respectively. BAY OF CAMPECHE/WESTERN GULF OF MEXICO.... Thin density smoke persists in the Western portion of the Gulf of Mexico and the Bay of Campeche. The smoke is predominantly traveling towards the east at a slow rate. -Boll THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
