DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS... Imagery this morning revealed remnant light density smoke from fires in northern Mexico. This smoke is being absorbed into a low pressure system over the central and southern plains. BAY OF CAMPECHE... A broad swath of light density remnant smoke was detected this morning through satellite imagery. This smoke originated from fires in the northern Yucatan peninsula and from offshore oil and gas platforms in the eastern Bay of Campeche. DUST: NEW MEXICO... Dust was observed originating from White Sands in New Mexico. This dust was moving eastward. -Gaetano THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
