DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico to the Southern Plains.... A large area of thin to moderately dense smoke from the ongoing seasonal fires occurring in southeastern Mexico and Central America extended from portions of the Southern Plains through the western half of the Gulf of Mexico towards the Yucatan Peninsula. Mid Atlantic Coast to the Western Atlantic.... Possible remnant smoke from the seasonal burning in Mexico and Central America as well as from the West Mims fire extended from the Western Atlantic west to the Mid Atlantic Coast. DUST: Southwestern New Mexico/Southern Arizona/Western Texas/Northern Mexico.... An area of blowing dust was seen extending from portions of western Texas extending west through Northern Mexico, far southern New Mexico and into portions of southeastern Arizona. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
