DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0145Z May 5, 2017
SMOKE: Arizona and New Mexico... Fires located in Eastern Arizona and Western New Mexico are producing light density smoke plumes with some moderately dense smoke that is traveling East and into Western and Central New Mexico, respectively. Montana... Several fires located in Western Montana are producing light density smoke that is observed to travel towards the East this evening. Gulf of Mexico... An area of mainly thin density smoke attributed to ongoing seasonal fires in southeastern Mexico and Central America was visible near the coast and over the Yucatan Peninsula. Significant cloudiness over the Gulf of Mexico farther to the north and northeast prevented smoke detection from satellite imagery in that region.
