DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Midwest.... A light density area of remnant smoke from fires over the Northern Plains and South Central Canada extended from southern Michigan west southwest to Illinois. Gulf of Mexico.... A large area of thin density smoke from fires in Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula extends from the northeastern Gulf of Mexico just off the coast of Florida southeast eastern portions of Mexico. A portion of this smoke axis also appeared to extend towards southern portions of Texas. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
