DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western Gulf of Mexico / Bay of Campeche... Remnant light density smoke covers the far western Gulf of Mexico and much of the Bay of Campeche this evening. The smoke stretches around the Yucatan Peninsula and through the Yucatan Channel, where it becomes wrapped up in the large scale flow south of Cuba. Mid Atlantic Coast... Another patch of remnant light density smoke was observed offshore of Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina this evening. Western Mexico... Fires in western Mexico were producing light to moderate smoke plumes that were blowing north east towards Texas. DUST: A large dust plume was observed in northern Chihuahua Mexico traveling east into west Texas. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
