DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Canada... Fires in Alberta Canada were producing light amounts of smoke blowing north. California... A fire along the Mexican border was producing moderate amounts of smoke blowing west into the Pacific. Arizona... Fires in south eastern part of the state were observed producing moderate amounts of smoke blowing east towards New Mexico. Florida... Fires in the Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades Wildlife Management Area were observed producing moderate amounts of smoke traveling north west towards Palmdale. South Texas/Gulf of Mexico... An area of smoke from fire activity over Mexico extended from portions of southern Texas south through the western portions of the Gulf of Mexico and coastal Mexico towards the Yucatan Peninsula. Mexico... Burning continues in West Mexico producing smoke that was observed traveling north east towards Texas and the Gulf of Mexico. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
