SMOKE: Northern Rockies/Central United States/Eastern and Northeastern United States/Central and Eastern Canada... A very large mass of thin density smoke ranged from northeastern California northeastward to Oregon and Washington, then eastward across northern Idaho and Montana, then covers the entire central and northeastern United States and portions of the Mid-Atlantic. The thinner density smoke was also present over portions of south-central Canada and all of eastern Canada. Within the thin density smoke area, moderately dense to thick smoke was seen covering portions of northern Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey. Moderately dense to thick smoke was also observed in portions of southern Saskatchewan, eastern Ontario, and eastern Quebec. The source for much of this smoke was the ongoing wildfire activity occurring over central and northern Idaho, western Montana, and portions of central Canada. DUST: Central Atlantic... Saharan dust was present north and northeast of the Windward Islands and around the eastern periphery of Hurricane Jose.
