DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Northwest US... Wildfires in northern California, west and central Oregon, north-central Washington, and central Idaho continued to burn through the night. This evening heavy cloud cover over much of the Northwest prevented further observation of the smoke that was visible in the morning. The smoke appears to be traveling in a northeast direction. Great Lakes Region and New England... An area of light density remnant smoke blankets much of the Great Lakes Region including Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Southeastern Ontario, northern West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New England, extending into New Brunswick. The remnant smoke was moving towards the northeast. Mexico... A fire was observed emitting smoke in the Coahuila province of Mexico that was last seen being blown northeast towards Texas. Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
