DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z October 24, 2017
SMOKE: Arizona... A fire in north central Arizona to the north of the Grand Canyon has a plume of light to moderately dense smoke this morning extending to the southwest just reaching into southeast California near the southern tip of Nevada. An area of light remnant smoke, possibly from one of the fires in east central Arizona, was seen this morning roughly between Phoenix and Tuscon. Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California... There were a couple of plumes of light remnant smoke detected off the coast of southern California, mostly south of the Channel Islands. A light to moderately dense smoke plume attached to an active fire in northwest Baja, just south of San Diego, was seen extending to the west southwest into the Pacific. Ruminski THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
