DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z November 19, 2017
SMOKE: South Florida... A couple of fires with smoke plumes have broken out this morning south of Lake Okeechobee. These smoke plumes were seen moving off toward the east. Arkansas/Louisiana... A few fires with smoke plumes were also seen across southern Arkansas into Louisiana. These smoke plumes were observed moving to the south or south-southeast. Eastern Arizona... A fire on the eastern edge of the Mogollon Rim was producing a smoke plume this morning that was visible at sunrise. This smoke plume was not moving very much. DUST: East of Windward Islands... A small amount of Saharan dust was observed approaching St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and Tobago of the southern Windward Islands. This dust extends eastward into the central Tropical North Atlantic Ocean. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
