DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South Central and Southeastern US... Similar to yesterday, numerous seasonal fires were detected along with many primarily thin density smoke plumes across a broad region of the South Central and Southeastern US from eastern Texas and eastern Oklahoma to Georgia and the Florida panhandle. DUST: New Mexico and Texas... Gusty northerly winds along a frontal boundary was responsible for kicking up a narrow band of thin density blowing dust which was spreading quickly to the south affecting an area including southeastern New Mexico along with western and central Texas. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
