DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1602Z March 20, 2018
SMOKE: Florida… Thin smoke from agricultural burns was observed over southern Florida through broken cloud cover in satellite imagery this morning. This smoke was moving towards the northeast near Port St. Lucie. Southwestern Arizona… A fire in southwestern Arizona was seen emitting smoke after sunrise this morning. This smoke was extending southward to near the northern Gulf of California. The smoke plume was moving off toward the west. Oklahoma/Texas/Louisiana… A handful of fires from western Oklahoma to eastern Louisiana were observed emitting smoke this morning. The smoke from these fires was moving to the south and east around a surface cyclone over eastern Tennessee. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
