DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

The ongoing wildfire activity affecting portions of the western United States and western Canada continues to produce tremendous amounts of smoke with an enormous area of varying density smoke. The majority of the heavy density smoke is originating from the Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The heavy density smoke then continues to travel east along the U.S. and Canada border, moving north into Quebec and finally into the North Atlantic Ocean. BLOWING DUST: Caribbean Sea/Gulf of Mexico... An area of Saharan dust extended over much of the western Gulf of Mexico, extending inland across eastern Texas. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
