DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0111Z July 26, 2022
SMOKE: Northwestern Canada... A large area of mainly light density smoke was detected over the northern parts of the Yukon and Northwest Territories, this was most likely due to fires in Alaska and within that area that is cloud covered prevention the detection of fires. Fires along The southern Yukon and Northwest Territories was producing At least light to moderate smoke that was seen stretching south over parts of British Columbia and Alberta. California/Nevada/Oregon/Utah... A large area of light to heavy density smoke from wildfires in central California covered all of central and northern California (into the Pacific), most of central/northern Nevada, eastward into northern Utah. Light density smoke reached as far north as central Oregon. Heaviest density smoke can be seen moving around the source in central California. Idaho... The Moose Fire in east central Idaho was observed producing moderate smoke which moved to the east into parts of Montana, Wyoming, The Dakotas, and Nebraska. DUST: Tropical Atlantic and Caribbean Sea... Earlier today an area of Saharan dust extended across the Tropical Atlantic with a portion extending through the southern Caribbean Sea and northern South America towards the southwestern Caribbean Sea and Central America. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
