DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Northwestern Canada to eastern U.S.... Wildfires in the Yukon and Northwest Territories have produced large amounts of dense smoke that extends over northern Alberta, with moderate smoke extending southward to central Ontario. Lighter remnant smoke from these fires, as well as remnant smoke from wildfires in the western U.S., also covers much of North America, extending from Hudson Bay in the North to the Gulf of Mexico in the south, and from the Great Plains eastward to central Quebec and the U.S. Atlantic coast before being obscured by clouds. Northwestern United States... The Rum Creek fire in southwestern Oregon, as well as other wildfires in northern California, were producing areas of light to heavy density smoke extending southward along the Pacific coastal regions and out over the ocean itself. Lighter density smoke was noted over the region. Central California... Two wildfires in east-central California was seen producing light to moderate density smoke that was moving northwest towards the Rum Creek fire. DUST: An area of Saharan dust was observed to the northeast of the Leeward Islands moving westward earlier today. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
