DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Northwestern and North Central United States, Western and Central Canada... A large area of mostly light density smoke, from the ongoing fire activity over the northwestern United States, western and northern Canada, was extending across the Pacific Northwest United States, North Central United States and western and central Canada. Within this area of smoke, there was an axis of moderate to high density smoke that was extending across northern Canada with the highest density smoke across northern Alberta, northern Saskatchewan and the southern Northwest Territories. South Central United States... An area of mostly light density smoke, from fire activity over portions of the South Central United States, was seen covering much of the area this evening. Within this area, an area of moderate density smoke was seen extending from southern Missouri southwest through eastern Arkansas. DUST: Nevada, California and Oregon…. Numerous areas of blowing dust were seen over the region that were extending northeast into portions of northern Nevada and central Oregon. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
