DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Virginia…. The fire in western Virginia was producing an area light density smoke that was seen extending into portions of central Virginia. Within that larger area of light density smoke, an area of moderate to high density smoke was seen closer to the fire activity and extending southeast. DUST: Southwestern United States…. Several areas of blowing dust were seen over the southwestern United States, those included, areas from southern New Mexico and just south of there in northwestern Mexico and extending east into portions of far western Texas. Another area, was seen extending from portions of southern Nevada and southern California east into western Arizona. AEROSOL: Pacific Ocean south of Mexico…. An area of aerosol was seen along the Pacific Coast of southern Mexico and offshore into the Pacific Ocean south of southern Mexico. This area is likely from industrial activities over Mexico. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
