Details/Specifics of Change: GOES-15 (GOES-West) will be performing a Yaw Flip Maneuver for one hour on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 2023 UTC through 2129 UTC. There is no back up date for this maneuver. It will need to be conducted during a critical weather day. A recovery period will follow immediately and last until March 22, 2018 at 0044 UTC. During the recovery period, routine imager and sounder scans will be performed; however, the navigation may still be out of specifications until the end of the recovery period. No GOES-15 (GOES-West) RSO requests will be approved during the maneuver/maneuver recovery period. If NWS Regions have any operational concerns, please contact the NCEP SDM (301) 683-1500 at least 6 hours prior to the maneuver time. There is no backup date for the Yaw Flip. GOES-16 (GOES-East) will continue to run Mode 3, which has a 15 minute Full Disk cadence, in support of the GOES-15 outage. On March 21, 2018 0800-1100 UTC, the following images and soundings will be shortened or replaced due to navigation constraints during eclipse.
