Update # 1: IDPS and VIIRS engineers determined that M11 data was not be produced by the VIIRS instrument when the spacecraft was in darkness.  IDPS was expecting M11 data and this caused the RDRs to lock for approximately 2 hours not producing higher order products until manual intervention.  At 180519Z the spacecraft was commanded to provide M11 data in both day and night mode.  All higher order VIIRS products are now being produced nominally.

Topic:
Delay in production of higher order VIIRS products

Date/Time Issued: January 30, 2018 2040Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted:
Higher order VIIRS products

Date/Time of Initial Impact:
January 29, 2018 2014Z

Date/Time of Expected End:
TBD

Length of Outage:

TBD

Details/Specifics of Change:
The VIIRS raw data records (RDRs) that are produced while the spacecraft is in darkness are missing a small percentage of data causing IDPS to not automatically produce higher order VIIRS products.  After approximately 2 hours the RDRs can be manually processed to produce higher order products.  VIIRS and IDPS engineers are troubleshooting.
