Date/Time of Initial Impact: March 21, 2017 2023 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: March 23, 2017 0044 UTC Length of Outage: 1 hour for maneuver (2023 UTC - 2129 UTC); 27 hours and 15 minutes for recovery period (March 21, 2017 2130 UTC - March 23, 2017 0044 UTC). Details/Specifics of Change: GOES-15 (GOES-West) will be performing a Yaw Flip Maneuver for one hour on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 2023 UTC through 2129 UTC. There is no back up date for this maneuver. It will need to be conducted during a critical weather day. A recovery period will follow immediately and last until March 23, 2017 at 0044 UTC. During the recovery period, routine imager and sounder scans will be performed; however, the navigation may still be out of specifications until the end of the recovery period. No GOES-15 (GOES-West) RSO requests will be approved during the maneuver/maneuver recovery period. If NWS Regions have any operational concerns, please contact the NCEP SDM (301) 683-1500 at least 6 hours prior to the maneuver time. There is no backup date for the Yaw Flip. GOES-13 (GOES-East) will perform Full Disk coverage from 2015-2144 UTC on March 21, 2017. The GOES-East Full Disk coverage is subject to change should NWS call for Rapid Scans to support Critical Weather Status. On March 22, 2017 0800-1100 UTC, the following images and soundings will be shortened or replaced due to navigation constraints during eclipse.
