Subject: Administrative: GOES-16 Post-Launch Testing of the HRIT/EMWIN --f403045fe340c29e69055137e8c7 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Topic: GOES-16 Post-Launch Testing of the HRIT/EMWIN System and Broadcast Date/Time Issued: June 5, 2017 1510 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-16 ABI Partial Data flow and EMWIN flow distributed through HRIT/EMWIN. Several brief interruptions will occur at the following times: June 6 from 1500-1505 UTC and 1530-1615 UTC and June 8 from 1300-1305 UTC. Date/Time of Initial Impact: June 6, 2017 1400 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: June 8, 2017 1400 UTC Length of Event: 48 hours There will be a post-launch test of the HRIT system and broadcast from the backup site June 6-8. For the first half of that 48 hour test, the broadcast will contain GOES-16 products: 7 bands of ABI Cloud and Moisture Imagery (CMI) [bands 2, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, and 15 in Full Disk at 2 km resolution] and 3 bands of mesoscale imagery [bands 2, 7, & 13, every 30 minutes]. (See also http://www.goes-r.gov/products/baseline-cloud-moisture-imagery.html.) For the second half of the test, the broadcast will contain only GOES Data Collection System (DCS) observations, NWS Emergency Managers Weather Information Network (EMWIN) messages, and environmental products. Also note that during the 48 hour test, several brief activities will impact the broadcast data stream: June 6, 1500-1505 UTC (uplink interruption) June 6, 1530-1615 UTC (no GOES-16 contents) June 8 from 1300-1305 UTC (uplink interruption) Note: The HRIT/EMWIN signal will be on GOES-16 located at 89.5 degrees West. The frequency is 1694.1 MHz. The data rate is 400 Kbps. The modulation is BPSK. The polarization is linear with vertical offset. *NOAA's GOES-16 satellite has not been declared operational and its data are preliminary and undergoing testing.
