products are generated in the OSPO Okeanos Operational Production
System, including 750 m CONUS products, 750 m global-sector products,
and 4 Km global merged ocean color products in formats of netcdf, hdf,
tif, and png. The products are created from SNPP VIIRS L1 data at bands
1-8, 10 and 11 in HDF5, and GFS ancillary data in GRIB2, by using the
CoastWatch Automatic Processing Software (CWAPS) (Courtesy of STAR
CoastWatch Team) that consists of the MSL12 (Courtesy of STAR Ocean
Color Science Team) and the BOASNRA (Courtesy of Dr. Igor Belkin in
University of Rhode Island) algorithms. The products will provide
significant support for NOS Harmful Algal Blooms Operational
Forecasting, NWS Global Ocean Data Assimilation and Coupled Forecast
Systems, Operational National Air Quality Forecasting, NMFS
ecosystem-based fishery management, NOAA CoastWatch program, and NOAA
Habitat Blueprint program.
