Subject: --001a113ce7b238db7205552a5828 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Topic: NOAA-15 reaches 100,000 Revs on August 5, 2017 and will roll over in count to Rev =E2=80=9C1=E2=80=9D Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued: July 25, 2017 20:40 UTC Product(s) Involved/Affected: All data and products from NOAA-15 (AVHRR, AMSU, HIRS, SARSAT, & SEM) that rely on Rev Numbers. Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation: August 5, 2017 ~06:00 UTC Date/Time(UTC) of Expected End: Permanent Length of Outage: Permanent Details/Specifics of Change: The Joint Space Operations Center (JSPOC) has confirmed that the NOAA-15 Rev Odometer will roll over to 00001 not 00000. Engineering has verified the roll over number by using 2li elements from DMSP OPS47 back from Aug of 2014. Scheduling is performing corrections to products by hand for the week of Aug 1 since the Rev number change happens towards the end of a scheduling session versus producing two different Satellite Operations Management System (SOMS) product sessions. During the following week, SOMS products should follow the normal scheduling process. In general, processes from spacecraft to users will function with the possibility that some data will be lost on the transition roll over Rev due to processing checks. However, efforts are being made to handling such special cases. Other places where corrections are showing up are in ancillary files and in tools that support this general process from spacecraft to user. Raw data from the spacecraft is only marked by time and file names are added that can include Rev Numbers. How these Rev numbers are generated for the file name may also be an issue. POES scheduling, engineering, data ingest, user services, SARSAT, ARGOS, and product distribution are all aware of the NOAA-15 Rev Odometer roll over. This notice is to remind all that that this change in how Rev numbers are reported for NOAA-15 will change in count but remain as a 5 digit number in both the 2li and 4li elements. The roll over to =E2=80=9C1= =E2=80=9D follows the launch protocol to not count Rev =E2=80=9C0=E2=80=9D.
