Switching to Channel 3A will occur during this period over the predefined box encompassing the Alaska Region (box coordinates 50=C2=B0N to= 75=C2=B0N and 173=C2=B0E to 135=C2=B0W). No channel switching will occur during the = summer fire season annually from the period of May 15th to September 15th. First NOAA-15 AVHRR 3A/B switch September 15 Rev 583, 258/02:51:50 to 258/02:59:33 UTC for a duration of 463 seconds. First CDA contact NOAA-15 F 584 258/04:33:00 to 260/04:40:12 UTC for a duration of 432 seconds. First CDA contact NOAA-19 F 44334 260/01:07:20 to 260/01:15:01 UTC for a duration of 461 seconds. Channel switching will stop after May 14, 2018 for the beginning of fire season. A reminder notification will be sent. The coordination for the activation and deactivation of switching for NOAA-15 and NOAA-19 AVHRR Channel 3A / 3B is a collaborative effort between NESDIS OSPO, National Weather Service (NWS) Alaska Region, University of Alaska - Geographic Information Network of Alaska (GINA), and the NWS Fire Weather Service Manager and is intended to seasonally optimize the Fire Weather and Cryosphere observing posture for Alaska.
