GOES-15 is yaw flipped close to every equinox due to a sounder thermal blanket anomaly which causes high detector temperatures when the sun is on the same side as the sounder cooler. SXI Imaging Impact: SXI solar images will begin rotating counter-clockwise approximately 6 deg/min starting at ~20:40Z until the images are rotated 180 degrees (upright) at approximately 21:11Z. The images will flip back to their correct orientation at 21:23 (or within a few minutes) when the "upright" signal is sent to the SXI. _XRS will not be impacted _during the yaw flip based on our experience from previous yaw flip maneuvers. GOES-13 SXI will be operational during the yaw flip and may be utilized instead of the GOES-15 SXI. The SXI image rotation can be observed minute-by-minute near real time at the following SWPC link: _http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/latest-goes-15-level-0-solar-x-ray-imager-sxi_ *Contact Information for Further Information:* ESPC Operations at ESPCOperations@noaa.gov at (301)-817-3880 *Web Site(s) for applicable information:* See http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/messages.html for this and other satellite related messages. Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Solar X-Ray Imager (SXI)

Date/Time of Initial Impact: September 21, 2017, at approximately 20:40Z

Date/Time of Expected End: September 21, 2017, at approximately 21:20Z

Length of Event: N/A

Details/Specifics of Change: OSPO Engineering will begin flagging  SXI-15 images with "NSSK" from 20:38Z to 21:23Z due to GOES-15 yaw flip maneuver on Thursday, 9/21/2017.

XRS will not be impacted during the yaw flip based on our experience from previous yaw flip maneuvers.

GOES-13 SXI will be operational during the yaw flip and may be utilized instead of the GOES-15 SXI.
