This notice is to inform users that certain GOES legacy Geo-SST
products
(see table below) will be discontinued or severely impacted with the
transition of GOES-13 to GOES-16 to support GOES-East (75.2W)
operations on
January 2, 2018.
NESDIS has two products that will be produced using GOES-16. These
products are planned for data distribution to the user community
via the
Product Distribution and Access (PDA) system in early November 2017 via
OSPO and the CoastWatch ftp server via STAR. The following are
the product
short names as catalogued in the PDA:
1.
ACSPO_GHRSST_L2P_SST_GOES-East_STAR
2.
ACSPO_GHRSST_L3U_SST_GOES-East_STAR
Please note: The NOAA STAR CoastWatch ftp server now has a 2-week
rotating
buffer (reported once per hour) of test GHRSST L2P GOES-16 SST files
(as
well as the Himawari-8 SST L2P) data for examination:
ftp://ftp.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/socd4/coastwatch/sst/nrt/
The /abi directory has the GOES-16 data and the /ahi directory has the
Himawari-8 data.
Please contact John.Sapper@noaa.gov for more product details or any
questions regarding product availability or distribution as well
as future
plans. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on their GOES-16
SST data
requirements.
The following legacy GOES-13 SST products, (gridded, in binary
format) will
either be discontinued completely, or will lose the portion of
GOES-13 data
coverage in GOES-East/GOES-West composite products:
